Bitget Launches Reality for Tokenized US Stocks, ETFs, Gold
Published on May 26, 2026
Crypto exchange Bitget has launched Reality, a platform designed to tokenize real-world assets (RWAs), with an initial focus on giving users on-chain exposure to selected US stocks and exchange-traded funds. The platform will be integrated into Bitget's broader trading ecosystem, the exchange detailed in a statement on May 26.
What Reality Offers
Reality will serve as the issuing platform for rTokens, which are on-chain representations of publicly traded equities and ETFs. Each rToken is backed 1:1 by real shares held with a FINRA-registered, SIPC-protected US broker-dealer. The structure is designed to give the tokens direct and verifiable support from underlying securities.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the platform is built around a projection that roughly 10% of all financial assets could exist in tokenized form by 2030. "Stablecoins, faster blockchain settlement, and growing interest from major exchanges are pushing RWAs from experiment to market infrastructure," Chen said in the statement. The company has positioned Reality as a direct response to that projected shift.
The platform is designed to remove barriers that have historically limited access to certain markets. Bitget said geography, trading hours, fragmented platforms, and settlement constraints have traditionally restricted participation, and Reality is built to address those gaps. Users will also be able to use tokenized equities as unified account margin, which Bitget said is intended to improve capital efficiency.
This launch follows Bitget's April release of IPO Prime, a subscription-based market for pre-IPO tokenized allocations. The exchange currently offers access to more than 100 tokenized stocks, ETFs, commodities, foreign exchange products, and gold. Reality extends that offering by providing a dedicated issuance platform for rTokens.
Broader RWA Momentum
Bitget's move comes amid a broader push for real-world asset tokenization. Separately, Stable, the USDT-dedicated layer-1 blockchain backed by Bitfinex, Hack VC, and Franklin Templeton, has launched StableEarn, a yield product for holders of Tether's stablecoin (USDT). The product routes user deposits into RWA instruments to generate returns.
StableEarn is built on Morpho, an on-chain lending protocol. Risk management parameters governing the product were set by Gauntlet, a risk management firm. User funds flow into vaults, which are automated smart-contract pools that deploy capital into yield strategies without relying on token emissions or incentives common in DeFi yield programs.
The underlying yield is sourced from RWA products developed by Theo, a financial firm that works with Standard Chartered's Libeara platform and Wellington Management. Those instruments include thUSD, thBILL, and thGOLD, which are tied to assets such as US Treasurys and gold.
Theo CIO Iggy Ioppe said the product delivers "USDT-native, institutional-grade" returns generated by real-world markets. Stable CEO Brian Mehler said placing USDT to work has historically faced obstacles around competitive yields. He said StableEarn addresses this by pairing institutional-grade yield with a chain built specifically for USDT.
Market Implications
The launch of Bitget Reality and similar initiatives signals a maturation of the RWA sector. Tokenized stocks, ETFs, and gold offer investors the liquidity and accessibility of crypto while maintaining exposure to traditional assets. By allowing rTokens to be used as margin, Bitget is also blurring the lines between crypto and traditional finance, potentially attracting a new class of traders.
However, regulatory hurdles remain. While Bitget's backing by a US broker-dealer provides some assurance, the legal status of tokenized securities varies by jurisdiction. The success of these platforms will depend on their ability to navigate compliance while offering a seamless user experience.
