Aptos is a Layer 1 blockchain platform designed for high throughput, low latency, and scalability, using the Move programming language. It aims to provide a secure and decentralized foundation for Web3 applications.
Description: Aptos is a Layer 1 proof-of-stake blockchain that launched in October 2022. It was developed by former Meta employees who worked on the Diem blockchain project. Aptos uses the Move smart contract language, originally created for Diem, to enable safe and flexible asset management. The network achieves high throughput through parallel execution (Block-STM) and a novel consensus mechanism (AptosBFT). Its mainnet went live on October 17, 2022. Aptos aims to solve blockchain scalability issues while maintaining security and decentralization, targeting applications in DeFi, NFTs, and gaming. The native token, APT, is used for transaction fees, staking, and governance.
